Premier Vascular Imaging at Vascular Specialists!
Vascular Specialists is pleased to announce our diagnostic imaging and testing division, Premier Vascular Imaging.
Poor circulation and a compromised vascular system will jeopardizes health and quality of life. Our compassionate and friendly staff at Premier Vascular Imaging provides superior ultrasounds with accurate results, performed on your veins and arteries with same- or next-day appointments quickly. We are the only facility in Chicagoland dedicated to vascular diagnosis and staffed by board-certified and fellowship trained vascular surgeons.
Our patient care is delivered at an unprecedented level. We want you to be comfortable asking questions, to be fully informed and to be at ease before and during your testing.
Your primary care or referring physician will order a vascular ultrasound to determine blood flow throughout your body, detecting and determining the severity and location of any irregularities such as narrowing or weakenings in your blood vessels. Imaging may also be ordered to monitor the blood flow to transplanted organs. A Doppler ultrasound will also map blood flow. Vascular ultrasounds are non-invasive and safe, even during pregnancy.
Your physician will receive results usually within 48 hours, but we can also furnish results much sooner in cases of emergent situations.
Your technician will use a wand placed on your skin to transmit sound waves that will reflect or echo off your blood cells and blood vessels. They will then record those echoes for diagnosis. The imaging lasts about 30-90 minutes.
Come to Premier Vascular Imaging for:
Venous Doppler - Diagnoses deep vein thrombosis or blood clots in the veins of the legs. It is also used map blood flow and to diagnosis chronic venous insufficiency, leaky valves or pooling.
Arterial Duplex Study - Examines the arteries in the arms and legs to find narrowing or blockages, causing peripheral artery disease.
Ankle Brachial Index Study (ABI) - Blood pressure measurements at the ankles are compared with measurements at the arms. A low AB index can mean narrowing or blockage in the arteries in the legs, reducing blood flow. An ABI may be ordered when you are experiencing leg pain, cramping or discomfort when walking, numbness, heaviness or weakness in legs, or have a history of tobacco use, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Carotid Artery Ultrasound (CU) - Examines the carotid arteries which run along either side of the neck, supplying the brain with oxygenated blood. Blocked, narrowed or abnormal carotid arteries raises the risk of stroke. A carotid artery ultrasound may be ordered if you have a history of dizziness, a bruit, transient ischemic attacks, diabetes, high cholesterol or family history of stroke or heart attack.
Venous Reflux Study - Looks for compression or ischemia in the veins of the legs and can be used to diagnosis chronic venous insufficiency and leaky valves or pooling, causing varicose veins.
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Ultrasound - Looks for weaknesses in the abdominal aorta, causing an outward balloon or aneurysm. Regular ultrasounds are performed to monitor the size of an AAA. AAA Ultrasounds are especially recommended for men over 60 who have ever smoked and anyone with a family history of AAA. This test may also be ordered when there is stomach pain or a feeling of a pulse in the stomach.
Vein Mapping - Determines which veins and arteries are open, with no blockages. Vein mapping is also used to identify blood vessels in the legs that can be used as a bypass graft for a surgical procedure.
When your primary care physician or other doctor orders an ultrasound for you, be sure to ask for Premier Vascular Imaging. Here, you will receive the best quality of imaging, testing and diagnostics care from experienced and outstanding technicians specially trained in the vascular system to significantly improve your quality of life.
