Why You Should Choose A Vascular/Endovascular Surgeon

When your health challenge stems from vein or arterial disease or illness, seeing a board-certified, fellowship trained vascular surgeon is the very best choice you can make for your continued health.

Vascular surgeons go beyond required surgical training and gain significant experience and knowledge by treating all types of vascular disease, including advanced diagnostic training, medical and drug interventions, and specific, technically challenging reconstructive and reparative vascular and endovascular surgical techniques.

Dr. Tanquilut, Dr. Pradhan and Dr. Alhalbouni provide university-level care. They have unique skills to combine clinical evaluations and diagnostic tests to diagnose and treat vascular disease. Our surgeons have a deeper understanding and knowledge of drug therapy and risk factor management as it relates particularly to your vascular health. They have learned advanced surgical techniques to treat vascular conditions and diseases, far beyond a general surgeon’s experience.

Our surgeons are the only highly specialized, trained vascular/endovascular surgeons in the Southwest Chicagoland area that have been trained to treat vascular disease either with minimally invasive techniques or advanced open surgical modalities. Dr. Tanquilut, Dr. Pradhan and Dr. Alhalbouni help you and your family make better decisions about treatment options because they have more intense education and expertise with the latest evidence-based techniques for vascular health.

With Dr. Tanquilut, Dr. Pradhan and Dr. Alhalbouni, your pre- and post-op care is distinctly focused on your vascular health, making for fewer complications and a quicker recovery.

Dr. Eugene Tanquilut grew up in Orland Park and is a graduate of Carl Sandburg High School.  He has provided vascular care and surgery in the south and southwest suburbs of Chicago since 2005 and has offices in Olympia Fields and New Lenox. Dr. Tanquilut has published a variety of papers about vascular health management and is a popular speaker at national vascular health conferences.

“My goal is to first understand my patient and his or her needs, and then to implement a treatment plan that will be both effective and efficient for that patient. I treat my patients with compassion and altruism, a genuine concern for their well-being. I endeavor to understand each patient as an individual, to treat them as a unique person and not see them as a disease. Patients should be given the best quality of care with the goal to significantly improve their quality of life.

Patients have the right to be well informed about all treatments available, which helps us make the best decision as a team. I am trained in both traditional and minimally invasive vascular surgery, so I can provide an unbiased opinion about beneficial methods that ultimately ensures each patient has the best possible individual care.

I truly enjoy spending the time to talk with my patients. Getting to know my patients intimately helps us develop a strong bond, makes patients comfortable in asking questions to be fully informed and at ease, and lessens their anxiety before and during a procedure.”

Surgical Residency: Yale University School of Medicine

Vascular Fellowship: Yale University School of Medicine

Board Certified: Vascular Surgery and General Surgery

Dr. Sanjeev Pradhan grew up in Wisconsin and now makes the Chicago area home, living in Orland Park. Dr. Pradhan designed a unique hybrid vascular surgery suite which integrates advanced imaging techniques with a traditional operating room setting, and was the first surgeon in the Chicago area to use fenestrated stents to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms. Dr. Pradhan joined Vascular Specialists in 2015.

Dr. Pradhan performs procedures for hemodialysis access, peripheral artery disease, venous disease, carotid artery disease and aneurysm disease with both open and endovascular methods, with a particular interest in minimally invasive treatment of aneurysms. He was the first Chicago surgeon to use a fenestrated stent to fix an aortic aneurysm that involved the renal arteries.  Dr. Pradhan has a patient-centered bedside manner and shares with Dr. Tanquilut the philosophy of providing excellent service to his patients, referring physicians and community.

“Vascular surgery is a fascinating mix of medicine and very sophisticated, technically challenging surgeries. I get a real sense of pleasure that I am saving lives and limbs as a vascular surgeon. I am committed to using evidence-based medicine, the most recent published data and the best information available to care for our patients. I encourage patients to include family in our conversations and to discuss the pros and cons of each treatment. Age, advancement of the condition or disease, lifestyle and other factors are all considered as we talk about medicine, minimally invasive treatments or major surgery to arrive at the right decision for the patient.”

Dr. Saadi Alhalbouni was born and raised in the country of Jordan. He moved to the United States in 2005 to further pursue medical training and has treated patients in New York, West Virginia and Kentucky. He joined Vascular Specialists in 2017 and now makes his home in Orland Park.

Dr. Alhalbouni was drawn to vascular surgery while working with dedicated vascular surgeons in Brooklyn. He treats carotid artery disease, aneurysms, varicose veins, thrombosis, arteriosclerotic and peripheral artery disease, and places hemodialysis access. He takes particular interest in learning about and using the newest, leading edge vascular and endovascular technologies, as they allow for less invasive procedures. Dr. Alhalbouni is a prolific and respected contributor to medical and vascular papers and a frequent presenter at vascular society conferences throughout the country.

“I never want my patient to say, “the doctor did this procedure, but I’m not sure why.” I want all my patients to thoroughly understand their health condition, to understand all the treatment alternatives, to know both the benefits and the risks of those treatments and, together, to then make a well-informed decision that will be best for their health and their lifestyle. To help with that, I try to draw and sketch the disease process to my patients, and then explain to them what needs to be done. I am inspired by the thought process behind vascular surgery interventions, particularly aneurysm repair, as it involves careful planning before the procedure even begins.
